Glamorous Influencer Showcase for Sephora

BRIEF Premium beauty retailer Sephora joined with over 30 award-winning cosmetic brands to hold an exclusive media and influencer-only event. Invite-only attendees were able to preview exciting upcoming products. The challenge was to produce creative designs and manage the installation of over 30 branded booths on a tight deadline. As Sephora needed to display 37 unique international brands that operate on different continents, the process of managing the design briefs naturally took longer than usual. This left a shorter production time. WHY NEXT PRINTING CHOSE RE-BOARD® Lightweight Quick and easy to set up and take down Potential to be reused for the client’s next event Timesaving in all aspects: design, production, transport Romeo from Next Printing says: “We aren’t just competing with cardboard anymore – we’re also taking on traditional MDF. Not many players on the market use paperboard to build a structure. It is often only used for display purposes. That’s why Re-board® is so unique. It offers an eco-friendly, lightweight and easy to build solution.” DELIVERY The design process was intensely collaborative. Event management studio The Make Haus provided Next Printing with a framework of the style guide, reference images and the purpose of the displays. For more than 5 years, Next Printing has had an internal industrial designer working with Reboard ®. Therefore, they could offer an extremely effective and efficient solution. This designer came up with 3D renderings and solutions to bring the ideas to life. This allowed them to build stands to the brands’ unique requirements. Delivered on the day: Event setup and clear up. Product showcase booths for 32 different brands. 5 premium custom-built stands Innovative TV wall built without a TV stand – the Re-board® structure supported the 65” TV fully. 3x3 metre cubes with downlights – designed so that 3 people can fully assemble them within an hour. Zigzag wall – designed so that 2 people can fully assemble it within 15 minutes. Next Printing produced 37 eco-friendly booths and stands, all with varying, customised, creative design. Using Re-board®, they delivered unique and complex builds which exemplified every element of the premium Sephora brand. In addition, they created custom-built rigid storage boxes to protect the assets from damage during transport. This effective solution allowed for the assets to be reused at future events. RESULT: As Re-board® is lightweight, Next Printing were able to construct and clear up the stands in record time, saving time and money. The client was thrilled with the result and the option to reuse assets at future events. 37 different stands and booths Set up by 6 people in under 8 hours Taken down by 4 people in under 4 hours 70% of assets reused for the next event 30% recycled as paper Next Printing was able to pull off this event within a tight turnaround time of less than 3 weeks. Both Sephora and The Make Haus were extremely happy with the outcome. Thanks to our printer partner’s creative use of Re-board®, Sephora was able to host their premium event within the required timeframe and budget. More than 100 guests interacted with the impressive displays at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal, resulting in incredible media coverage. The project successfully challenged the traditional methods of building with MDF and timber, demonstrating what can be achieved with innovative, sustainable materials.

Lars Wallin & Swedish Brands, Berlin

Lars Wallin & Swedish Brands When one designer is working with another designer, there is always a chance to create something great or end in chaos. Thankfully, the collaboration between Lars Wallin – the Swedish fashion designer whose clients includes the crown princess Victoria of Sweden to contestants on the Eurovision Song Contest – and Maximilian Hansen, Chief Designer of Nordwerk Design, ended with a masterful exhibit! For the show, “Lars Wallin and Swedish Brands in Berlin” (Sep. 3rd to Oct. 3rd 2021), the task was to create a cathedral backdrop to present a selection of Lars Wallin’s best work. And when working with a designer of his stature, it requires a high amount of flexibility throughout the entire process, beginning with the planning that took place digitally between Stockholm and Vancouver. In order to make the fashion shine, Maximilian and Lars created four areas with four different themes. The main structure was a scaffold, the idea was to mount sheets of Re-board® into the scaffold to create open and closed spaces; juxtaposing the rough industrial scaffold to the clean walls created by the paperboard cut outs. Every room has a different look and feel, to reflect the different style of dresses. The areas were accessible through a number of 4.5 m high gates, all made of Re-board® and attached to the scaffold. The final “room” was characterised by a large chandelier measuring 3 m wide and 1.6 m tall, hanging from the ceiling. This chandelier was light enough for a single person carry it despite the size. In order to achieve the right flexibility all pieces were mounted by sliding hangers into the big sheets and then hung on the horizontal poles of the scaffold. This way the horizontal elements on which the boards were supposed to be mounted to could be anywhere. The challenge was to design the backdrop to work with the generic scaffolding that is not made for hanging backdrops, since the company building it had very little expertise in set design. The hangers were made in a way that they could not only mount full sheets into the scaffold, but also extend these sheets in length among each other. They also functioned either as one sided or double-sided, meaning a paperwall could be created on both side of the horizontal metal parts. Due to the light but very strong structure, sliding in the hangers without any glue or screws made the project easier and more flexible to any last minute changes or adjustments for the final look. Because one must always to be ready for possible last-minute inspirational changes on the set design while working with an artist like Lars Wallin. And of course, the environmental impact was equally important! By not using any screws or glue, the structure can be recycled completely, without having to pay attention to pieces that possibly need to be removed before recycling. A perfect example of green set design. And since Re-board® is a very light building material, mounting all pieces was done by only 2 people in 2 days. And let’s be honest, saving time and material always is an advantage; financially and time wise! Barbie at Grill'd | Case Study from Next Printing, Australia

Retail Fit-Out at Its Best Next Printing in Australia did an incredible fit-out in conjunction with the launch of the Barbie Movie in July 2023 at Grill’d The Galeries’ Sydney location as Barbie’s Dreamburger Diner. Re-board® was the main material in this project. As an engineered paper-based board with the strength of MDF, it was a smart choice for a temporary fit-out that would need to withstand 5-weeks in a high-traffic restaurant environment. Along with Re-board®, Next Printing used a range of other print materials to further transform windows, floors, tables and columns inside the space. BEFORE There were some significant challenges that Next Printing faced during the design phase of this transformation. Initial site checks showed that many of the existing timber booth structures to be clad with Re-board® were not perfectly square, a major consideration during the industrial design process. And to add more pressure, the entire re-fit needed to be completed in one night. After BEFORE For production purposes, Next Printing divided the project into 10 jobs corresponding with the main areas to be updated. Treating these as individual mini projects, allowed for quicker approvals and movement through production. The items were then packed by area for speedy allocation and unpacking on-site. AFTER Utilizing a team of six experienced installers and approximately 90 Sheets of Re-board® along with other substrates, Next Printing assembled and built a variety of custom structures on site. Some items (for example the main Dreamburger entry feature) were pre-built prior to installation and transported to site to expedite the build.
