Meet the participants A frank, experience-driven conversation about making retail production work in the real world. Andy Davis (Guest) Structural Development Manager, The Bernard Group Andy brings hands-on experience from large-scale retail production — the projects, the problems and the lessons learned. He'll share what it really takes to deliver at scale, including the moments where things didn't go as planned. Designing beyond the box

Join this webinar hosted by Re-board for an honest, experience-driven conversation with designer and engineer Maximilian Hansen — covering structural design thinking, what paper-based materials can actually do, and how to navigate the gap between a client's brief and a genuinely great result. What you’ll learn Why geometry is the real barrier in structural design Most structures are boxes - and there's a reason for that. Max breaks down how conventional thinking limits what designers build, and what it takes to move into free-form and parametric design. How to handle clients, budgets and difficult briefs An honest look at navigating the gap between a client's brief and a genuinely great result — including when the right move is simply to walk away. What paper-based materials can actually do From self-supporting structures and rapid prototyping to complex curved forms and overhead installations — the practical capabilities most people haven't fully explored. Meet the participants A frank, experience-driven conversation about structural design, creative process and what it really takes to push paper-based materials past the expected. Maximilian Hansen (Guest) Designer & Engineer, Nordwerk Design Max approaches structural paper design from an engineering perspective — always asking how far the material can be pushed, and how to make it work in the real world. With 15 years of building large-scale, self-supporting paper structures for clients across Europe and North America, he brings both technical depth and hard-won practical insight. Ali Khalili (Host) CEO, Re-board Ali leads the conversation as host and interviewer, guiding the discussion with practical questions and real-world focus. The goal is a relaxed, honest dialogue that gives you insights you can actually use — not a presentation or sales pitch. Who should attend? For you who work with - or want to work with - structural paper-based materials at a higher creative and technical level. KASANERU: A modular and sustainable exhibition concept

The challenge Igarashi Seihako, a leading Japanese design company, needed a sustainable, modular, and reusable exhibition concept for the NEWNORMALNEWSTANDARD4 showcase at Salone del Mobile 2024 in Milan. The design had to be: Lightweight and easy to transport internationally Visually striking to highlight material innovation Reusable across multiple locations without compromising quality The solution Re-board® was selected as the ideal material due to its strength, versatility, and recyclability. The exhibition stand was entirely constructed from Re-board, processed in Japan and then shipped to Italy for assembly. The modular design allowed it to be disassembled and reused for exhibitions in Tokyo and Osaka. Kasaneru means "stacking" in Japanese - a concept that inspired both the design and philosophy of the installation. The exhibition highlighted the layered structure of Re-board®, creating a striking stacked effect that showcased the material’s strength and lightweight properties. One key feature of the project was the "Kasaneru" stool, developed in collaboration with product designers. The structure demonstrated how Re-board can be both functional and artistic, offering a unique, layered aesthetic. The installation also incorporated ArakawaGrip wire suspension fixtures, enabling a floating effect that showcased Re-board® in an innovative way. By cutting the edges at an angle, the exposed Re-board® core became a key design element, adding depth and texture. The result A 100% reusable exhibition stand: Successfully used in Milan, then repurposed for Tokyo and Osaka. Sustainable and circular design: Reduced material waste while maintaining high-impact visuals. Enhanced brand storytelling: The floating display concept and stacked elements highlighted Re-board’s unique structure and recyclability. References: https://newnormalnew.com
